中国・杭州に新たにオープンしたX sign Spaceで開催中の展覧会「Buy-in」に参加しました。紙袋を消費社会が投影される存在として捉え、世界中から収集して展示するという面白い試みです。私はキュレーターの杜氏にお誘いいただき、招待デザイナーの1人としてオリジナルの紙袋『兴味盎然』を制作しました。

私の事務所の周辺は高級ファッションブランドが沢山あって、それらの紙袋をぶら下げた人々が誇らしげに闊歩していたり、店の前で一生懸命写真撮影をしたりしています。そんな彼らに無関心を装った羨望だったり、あからさまな憧憬だったりと、さまざまな視線が投げ付けられているのが面白い。チラリと向けられる興味の気配を追い風に、買い物帰りの人々がますます自信を持ったように見えるのも面白い。
We participated in the exhibition "Buy-in" currently being held at the newly opened X sign Space in Hangzhou, China.
It is an interesting attempt to collect and exhibit paper bags from all over the world, considering paper bags as a projection of the consumer society.
I was invited by the curator, Mr. Du, to create an original paper bag "兴味盎然" as one of the invited designers.

There are many high-end fashion brands in the vicinity of my office, and people with their paper bags hanging from them strut around proudly or try their best to take pictures in front of the stores.
It is interesting to see the various gazes of envy and overt longing that are thrown at them, some disguised as indifference. It is also interesting to note that the people on their way home from shopping seem to be gaining more and more confidence, driven by the glimpses of interest they are receiving.
